The Small Societies
The clubs of the Cove — Neighbor-run, Neighbor-loved, and the real reason most people are on a first-name basis before the season turns.
A neighborhood is only as sociable as the things it finds to do together, and the Cove does quite a lot. These are the clubs — each one started by a Neighbor, run on enthusiasm and a shared key, and open to any resident who'd like to show up. No dues in most cases, no committees in any of them. Just the quiet, repeated act of showing up, which turns out to be the whole secret.
Stewardship
Environment Club
The Bay is the reason many of us are here, and this is the club that looks after it. Shore cleanups, water-quality testing with the URI extension, and the slow, patient work of keeping the phragmites back from the marsh edge. Meets the first Saturday morning, rain or shine.
Cellar & Table
Wine Club
A monthly or quarterly tasting, weather permitting — and on the covered porch at Rhode Island Country Club, weather not. Rotating themes: Loire one month, Piedmont the next, and a local-cider night in October that will become, improbably, the social event of the season.
Finance
Investment Club
Neighbors pooling research and the occasional dollar, the way investment clubs used to work before the apps. A long horizon, a short agenda, and a firm rule against stock tips at dinner. Meets quarterly in a memorable venue.
Youth
Kids Club
Not a daycare — a conspiracy of parents. Organized scavenger hunts, a Friday movie on a lawn in July, and the unspoken arrangement that any and all Neighbors look out for the kids. Runs on the stamina of a few and the gratitude of many.
Horticulture
Garden Club
Native plantings, a shared seed library, and the annual late-summer tomato (yes, including cherry) tasting, judged with a seriousness that would surprise anyone who has never grown a tomato. The common beds are just a season away.
Court
Tennis Club
A love of the game or an interest in learning more is all you need to bring. And maybe a racket.

The sidehill-lie that binds. We love the game and love to hate it even more. A roving golfing crew that supports each other and explores courses near and far.
Paddle
Pickleballpalooza
Never seen a pickleball court? No problem (you 100% have) Afraid of round things? A-Okay Allergic to perspiration? Bring it on Equal parts sport and block party, and usually the thing new Neighbors join first.
